Startup Yatra Flag off at BITS, Goa

The Goa Start-up Yatra is an initiative to reach out to students in colleges and tap potential entrepreneurs in early stage. The Yatra was flagged off by Hon'ble ITE&C Minister Shri. Rohan Khaunte at BITS Goa Campus, Birla. Post the flag-off, there would be workshops carried out in colleges, where the students would be briefed about stages of a startup, product development and marketing, financial and legal aspects, etc. At these workshops, successful startups from the state were invited to interact with the students and share their stories.

Startup Yatra Workshops

Entrepreneurship workshops were held MES College, Vasco as the first leg of Startup Yatra. The workshop was a good success with a turnout of over a hundred students eager to learn about the ins and outs of starting their own businesses. The Guest Speaker, Mr. Akshay Borkar, a successful entrepreneur from Goa, shared his experience and provided with valuable insights and advice.

Pitching Workshops

ANTHA PERNA

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on 29th Aug, 2021, inaugurated the Goa Startup Conclave Entrepreneurship Summit "Anth Prerana" at a function organized by the Startup Promotion Cell in Collaboration with Goa Institute of Management at Panaji The conclave is an effort to bring together the collective ecosystem of entrepreneurs, innovators, investors, startups, educationists, the government and policymakers; to create synergies that will empower and facilitate a robust startup ecosystem in Goa.

Apply for National Startup Awards 2022

DoIT encourages all Goan startups to participate in National Startup Awards. The awards seek to recognize and reward outstanding startups and entrepreneurs that are building innovative products. As part of Government of Goa initiative to build a cohesive startup ecosystem to assist Incubators & Co-Working spaces, Startup Promotion Cell (SPC) will be setting up a help desk at 91 Spring Board on 6th February from 4-6 pm. SPC will have one on one sessions with Startups and explain the Startup Policy & benefits, schemes therein. SPC will explain the process of Application to these schemes and also assist Startup on any other query they have. SPC will seek inputs and feedback from Startup & all ecosystem stakeholders on how together we can build a vibrant Startup ecosystem in Goa.

Team SPC support to Women Entrepreneurs

DoIT, Goa and SPC participated in panel at #MeWo CoWorking. The panel discussion was “Supporting Women Entrepreneurs & Assisting Women to Startup”. SPC updated attendees on Goa Startup Policy & schemes by Goa Government for #Startups. SPC updated the audience that Goa is miles ahead than other states when it comes to Women Entrepreneurs. More than 20% of Startups verified by Goa Government, are led by Women Entreneprenurs. The average in India of Women led Startups is around 12%. Tessy Thomas, official from DoIT, Goa reaffirmed the commitment of SPC to suppport Women Entrepreneurs.

DoIT, Goa & SPC conducted a reach out campaign to Startup Enablers. The team visited Panjim & Around areas based Co-Working spaces and Incubators. The reach out was to take their inputs, update them about Goa Startup Policy, Scheme and encourage cohesive working amongst the Startup Ecosystem Stakeholder to build a Vibrant Goa Startup Ecosystem. The Sankhali Mahotsav 2019 was a three-day event organised by Ravindra Bhavan, Sankhali for providing a platform for youth in Sankhali to showcase their talents in various fields. Department of Information Technology set up a stall to showcase initiatives taken by the State to promote entrepreneurship and innovation and create awareness of Goa Start-up Policy 2017 and Goa IT Policy 2018.

IndiaSoft 2019

Government of Goa sponsored a Goa Pavilion at IndiaSoft, an international Information Technology exhibition and conference event primarily aimed to assist small & medium IT companies in their efforts to enhance their IT exports globally. The Goa Pavilion consisted of 10 start-ups and IT companies that showcased their products to national & international attendees.

IKP Open Dialogues

The Start-up Promotion Cell, Goa, in collaboration with IKP Knowledge Park organized “Open Dialogues – Goa” held at Info Tech Corporation of Goa Limited (ITG) on February 28, 2019. The agenda of the event was to foster synergies among stakeholders, understand the needs of life sciences start-ups in Goa and decide on a road map for future networking activities.

Global VC Summit

An initiative of the Departmental of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP) and the Government of Goa, the first edition of Startup India Global Venture Capital Summit was held on December 7-8, 2018 in Goa. It brought together more than 250 participants from over 9 9 countries and showcased venture capital opportunities in India as well as facilitated a rich exchange of ideas on various aspects of investor world.

Solution Saturdays – Legal Compliance

Start-up Promotion Cell in association with Attort Legal Consultancy Pvt. Ltd. (Lawmate.in) organized a session on “Legal Compliances for start-ups” as part of the Solution Saturdays series on December 1, 2018 at IT Hub. The session educated start-ups on legal compliances, legal agreements and intellectual property rights.

Startup Open House Event

“Startup Open House”, a platform for startups to showcase their products and services was hosted by 91Springboard on November 30, 2018. The event was attended by 80+ entrepreneurs, start-up founders and ecosystem enablers. Start-up Promotion Cell addressed the attendees about the initiatives taken by Government of Goa to facilitate the start-up ecosystem in Goa and apprised about the Goa Start-up Policy 2017.

What’s on an Investors Mind

An interactive Q&A session for startups titled “What’s on an Investors Mind” was held at EDC Ignite on November 16, 2018. The session was conducted by Mr. Vish Sathappan, Director, Brand Capital, Times of India group. Start-ups were enlightened on how to create a pitch to gain investors’ attention and funding.
